Origin
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
Arguably in 1586 during the invasions explorer Sir Francis Drake and his crew who was overseas on the way to Cuba in order to shrink its cities off gold were diagnosed with life threatening diseases mainly caused from poor conditions on the ship.
In response to save themselves from becoming a victim to the diseases they carried they sent some of their crew ashore on Cuba to have them collect different locally grown ingredients that consisted of aguardente de cana (burning water), mint, lime and sugar cane juice which they ended up putting together to create an effective cure.
What they weren't aware of at the time was that the lime juice alone would have cured them off their diseases as they were severely slacking on vitamin C.
Back then the cocktail which used the same ingredients as the nowadays well known Mojito was named after their captain "El Draque" and later in history refounded to Mojito.
